Ericson Sailboats Are Iconic California Cruisers

Ericson is a storied pioneer of fiberglass sailing yachts with California roots. From the company’s founding in Costa Mesa 1963, through the late 1980s, Ericson produced thousands of sailboats. Although a few Ericson boats were designed as pure racers or cruisers, most were ideal racer-cruisers designed by Bruce King. One of the King’s premier designs, the Ericson 30, was first produced in 1966. The E30 has classic hull and cabin lines, following the design criteria of the Cruising Club of America.
The hull of the E30 is solid fiberglass and the deck balsa-cored. The yacht’s high bow, sheer, and balanced overhangs are complemented by teak toerails. Wide side decks make it easy to move forward inside the shrouds. Below, the E30 offers plenty of headroom in a wood interior with bulkheads bonded to the hull. A one-piece fiberglass headliner brightens the cabin and provides structural support.
Although Ericson is no longer in business, the sheer number of E30s still sailing today confirm the company’s commitment to quality. And you can own a piece of California Ericson history today. California Yacht Sales in San Diego is proud to offer a classic 1984 Ericson 30’0” which has been upgraded and maintained by its experienced long-time owner.
