Beneteau Enjoys a Long Tradition of Quality

Few sailboats can boast the historic pedigree of Beneteau, founded in 1884 by Benjamin Beneteau in the quays of Croix-de-Vie, France. The company remains in the family under the leadership of Madame Annette Beneteau Roux, Benjamin’s granddaughter.
Beneteau has built over 42,000 yachts since its founding. Today the Beneteau name is synonymous with yachting innovation and performance. With R&D second to none, Beneteau employs twenty experts whose raison d’ être (as they say in France) is delivering high-quality, durable yachts to the world.
Powered by the latest proprietary software, Beneteau designers ceaselessly search for yachting’s most advanced combination of speed, comfort, and resilience. During the composite transformation phase of construction, the company utilizes five digitally controlled robots to make the molds. Advanced technology enables Beneteau to attain perfect control of the manufacturing of the large laminated parts.
Beneteau’s marine cabinet work is second to none—the company employs over 300 master cabinet workers in Vendée, France. They turn rough-cut wooden planks into door frames, decorative moldings, and connecting parts, cutting, machining, and sanding by hand. Commenting on the dedication of its employees, Beneteau states, “Their single passion has always been to perpetuate the tradition, to offer stylishly elegant boats; always with a quality of finish beyond reproach.”
Vendée supplies Beneteau’s U.S. plant in Marion, South Carolina. This factory, which opened in 1986, houses 250,000 square feet of production space. It is considered one of the most advanced boatbuilding facilities in the world. By combining Old World expertise with American know-how, Beneteau builds yachts that cross oceans of history, culture, and tradition.
